So, Where Were You‽

Get ready to be beamed across, captain.

On the day that the Webb-James Satellite detected life on a distant, faraway world, pulverising the long-held belief that we are alone in the entirety of the Universe, one important question springs to mind. No, not where are the keys to the underground bunker, but the much more simpler where were you?

Folk always remember where they were, or what they were doing, at times of monumental occurrences. Perhaps you were cheerfully going about your day, greeting everyone you met with a friendly smile; or you were engaged in some kind of ‘war’ that wasn’t of your making.

Here’s hoping that when our new neighbours finally call to visit, they find a friendly, welcoming civilisation when they get here – that’s what I see through my crystal ball – although, the way things seem at present on our wonderful world, they may see a different picture completely.

It may take some time, Nancy… I mean Ground Control… in the meantime, just focus on all the good bits! 🙂

No one’s coming to visit us anytime soon Tom! The universe has far more sense than that!

True… but they do know that we’re preparing to visit them, don’t they? 🤔

They are probably doing their absolute best not to know! The prospect is likely to be terrifying beyond measure😅

Terrifying for us, mind… when we eventually blunder in there.

It would probably be much better for all concerned if we didn’t!

True. Very true. (Although, I feel we’ve already blundered!)

The last I heard about JWST is that it is showing galaxies too close to the big bang for the big bang to have caused them. The shock may well be that there is no one out there to visit.

Oh, they’re there, Frank. They all know about us here and do an exceptional job hiding from us! 🙂

If what you are referring to are also called “demons” I would agree.

Well, not demons exactly… but close enough.
