I saw a comment very early this morning advising that the text on my site isn’t very clear – it appeared grey on a black background. This was, I think, the third comment I’ve received like this recently. The text should be white on black, and on the devices I use it is, although it can be a little small at times.
So, I thought ‘right… I’ll make the text slightly larger and try to tweak the colours to see if I can make them any clearer’.
Off I went into the editor, and somehow ended up changing the whole bloomin’ theme. The only problem with that is the latest themes use the nightmare that is the Block Editor. I decided to scrap the whole idea, and revert back to the original theme… but no… that theme has been ‘retired’ and I couldn’t go back to it. It would have been nice to have been told that just before changing, but alas, we can’t cry over spilt milk. I’ve also lost the sidebar, which may or may not be a plus.
Onwards and upwards.
I persevered with the block editor, managing to put together the effort that is now my blog. Featured images have disappeared from my home page, and images on the post pages are now either duplicated or are visible from the Moon. I’ve added a nifty carousel at the bottom of the home page, which is also visible from the Moon (if you’re there visiting to read my blog properly.)
I will try to fix the issue with the images as time goes by. The last six hours have been spent just trying to get the site back to some kind of readable format.
I won’t be changing the theme again any time soon, and if the white on black text isn’t clear, that’s staying as it is, too!
My advice – stick with what you’ve got, kids! Unless you have six hours you never want to get back!
But on a positive, I have a new theme. With huge, blurry pictures, but a new theme.
