Dear Squilon,
I won’t be the best mother, but I swear I’ll look after you.
Your father asked me to raise you human whilst he and my sister, your real mother, left to explore his undersea homeland, Baxa. They say they will return for you, one day, but that won’t be for a few years.
They’ve specifically asked that you call me Mother, as that is the Baxan custom for the parent raising the young to be named.
As a hybrid, I have to keep you away from other humans, so it will be just you and I until you are old enough to take to the seas, but I will do my best to make sure that your human side is one as it should be. Noble. Kind. Strong.
I won’t be able to help with your squid side, but, apparently, that will come naturally to you.
I will educate you, feed you, and be there for you, as was my promise.
And when your mother does come back for you, as Queen of Baxa, you will become known as Crown Prince Squilon.
We will call that day Mother’s Day.
And from that day, you can call me… well, let’s wait for Mother’s Day first, shall we…?
