The Unicorn Challenge: The Meeting Place

Wait!

What’s up?

That phone box…

What about it?

Don’t you remember?

Er, no. Should I?

Er, yes! That was where we first met.

No, it wasn’t; we met under the clock tower in the precinct.

That was the third time we met.

The third time? Are you sure? We didn’t meet before the clock tower…

We did. We arranged to meet here, at the phone box the first time. I had the rose, you carried the newspaper.

The rose and the newspaper was for our second meeting at the station. We wore green macs for our first meeting at the clock tower.

No… the green macs we wore – that was at the art gallery.

The art gallery? I’ve never been to the art gallery.

Never? You have! You spilt your coffee in the café.

That wasn’t me. I don’t drink coffee and I don’t like art.

You…

And we… have you been meeting someone else?

No.

I’ve never been to this phone box before, nor the art gallery. We collided into each other under the clock tower… it was raining heavily, and we laughed as we wore the same mac. You asked for us to bring the rose and newspaper to our second meeting at the station, pretending we’d never met before.

Have another sip of your coffee.

Coffee? I don’t…

That’s it. Sit back… sleep. When you wake up, we’ll go through it again. You don’t remember us working together at the Foundation, which is good. We’ll get there.

Wonderfully funny and true to life, Tom. Love it. Shades of ‘Let’s call the whole thing off.’

There is that, Doug… at present, they don’t appear to be agreeing on anything!

Something bad is going on here. Whatever it is, she’s in trouble. He’s working hard to bend her thinking onto the path he wants. Relationship tangle? No. I think something more sinister. Hmm.

It’s fun how you’ve interpreted this, Margaret. I deliberately left the post genderless, so other ‘blanks’ could be filled in! 😊
There is something sinister going on, though, it seems.

Wow. You did!. Fascinating how I assigned my own ideas of gender to this.

Well, Tom, I thought this was a humorous take on Chevalier’s ‘I remember it well’ until the very end where it took a decidedly sinister turn!

    Nicely done.

Tee hee… How have they stayed together?!!!! (My husband has a photographic memory…) First time, it was a Jazz club in the East End, the second at The Cafe de Paris, in London, UK. Facts! Cheers.

These two in the post can’t seem to get the story right, can they?

You could write both sides of the conversation, and then only show one side, Clark…! 🤣 Choosing which side may be tricky, however! 😊

      Thank you. 🙂

No Tom….Fingers is out of town😁 He said variety is the spice of life, you will appreciate him so much more if you have to do everything for yourself for a while😄and he is having for too much fun 😀 sticking his fingers into lots of sticky pies 🥧 to provide his typing services at this time! He said, on a parting note 📝 that it is good for you to write ✍️ about darker and more serious characters occasionally….but he’s having a whalebone a time ha ing fun elsewhere for now 😀 so you’ll have to do it yourself!🤣 Very cheeky this Fingers!
