Favourite movies…

Well, I had to resort to it one day, didn’t I? The ever faithful favourite movies of all time post!

Thinking back, I have probably seen thousands of movies. Some I wished I had never seen, and can’t even remember them now anyway. Others, I thoroughly enjoyed… And can’t remember them either! And others have stuck with me throughout the years. The movies I am posting about here are the ones that I could watch again and again and again, back to back, and never get tired of watching them.

The first two, The Secret and What the Bleep, I’ve mentioned before in my ramblings in this blog. I just love these! I always feel good and motivated after watching them, and I find what they discuss absolutely fascinating… which I probably wouldn’t if I didn’t like them… More documentary than movie, but I find them entertaining and enlightening never the less.

The third in my list, of goodness knows how many movies, is The Celestine Prophecy. All to do with coincidences and the right path, things happening for a reason. This movie, and the two before fit nicely into my way of thinking. We all sometimes need some external help with our feel good thoughts (even though these always come from within) and these movies help with that. If you are feeling a little down, put one of these on and your spirits will be raised again in no time!

Moving on. These following films seem ancient, but they aren’t really that old. I don’t think. Mannequin starring Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrall tops this little list. It starts off with a girl hurled through time who can only move when nobody is looking. There’s more to it than that, but I don’t want to spoil any plot if it hasn’t been watched. Girls Just Want To Have Fun stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt. A fabulous feel good dance movie if ever there was one. Another feel good dance movie, Dirty Dancing, with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey makes you feel like getting up and joining in when the dancing comes on! Another favourite dance film of mine is Strictly Ballroom. Good fun whilst drinking a glass of wine (but the wine is optional!)

Miracle on 34th Street with Mara Wilson is my next movie. OK, it’s a Christmas movie. So what. It’s still good! Rat Race stars a whole host of famous people trying to get from one place to the other to be the first to arrive. As it says in the title it’s a race. I like how the characters have their own little stories going on throughout the movie, only crossing paths every now and then. I find it very entertaining. Pirates of the Caribbean and any of the ones that follow. Johnny Depp as a pirate. Shiver Me Timbers! Comedy, action, excitement and a bit of horror all thrown into the mix. No complaints from me here! The Lost Boys. How could anyone not like this? It’s got vampires in it to start off with. And comics. The printed kind – not comedians. Starship Troopers is another goodie with Casper van Dien.

Oh, just a minute… I’ve forgotten another vampire movie. Interview With A Vampire, starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. And a brilliant theme sung by Annie Lennox. It’s about a vampire being interviewed – that won’t spoil the movie if you haven’t seen it!

Mamma Mia starring Meryl Streep. Worth watching just for the scenery, if you aren’t into actors singing. Julie Walters is good in it, I must add.

Coyote Ugly is another feel good movie. One way or another I always try to ensure I get to see this one every now and then. And finally, on this, my first favourite movie list, is The Birdcage, starring Robin Williams. Not a lot, yet a lot, seems to happen in this one. Christine Baranski appears in this, and she is also in Mamma Mia. Coincidentally, as I didn’t know until the other week.

And there we have it. My movie review is now over, well, this one anyway.

If you want a fuller review of any of the movies, you’ll have to search for them somewhere… or you could watch them yourself! They really are good experiences to go through!
