Time

Time’ is Debbie’s theme for One Word Sunday this week.

There’s an old expression that says ‘time is money’, so I’m representing time this week by money. Old coins in fact!

As you can see, some coins aren’t as old as others, but each and every one of them link back to a certain time, and presumably hold some kind of link to special events they were used for… hidden within the mists of time.

Well, it’s nice to think that they all weren’t used just to buy potatoes!

Visit Debbie’s site on the link above for more takes on the theme.

Those old pennies bring back memories! I had a Cadbury’s Chocolate Machine money box that took those, back in prehistoric times when I was a kid.
Wondering what the shiny new coin is? Something to do with Brex**it?

I love these old coins, Chris!
The shiny one in the photos is a millennium £5.00 coin, which seems to be the size of a saucepan lid! 🤣 OK, maybe not as big as that!

A FIVE pound coin! I don’t remember those. I must’ve been too busy saving the world from Y2K 😉

They aren’t in general circulation, but are legal tender. I think these were created to celebrate the millennium, but I think there are others. I think they’re probably around the size of a sovereign – they’re sovereign-sized to me anyhow! 😀

Great post, actually I still have a few old coins around and they do represent different era’s, times, each coin conjuring up thoughts of past years. I will have to call into Debbie’s space sometime.

    Have a nice Sunday Tom.

I like your choices, Tom. Love old coins. Just think of all the stories they could tell (and all the dirty hands that touched them!) 🙂

Yes! Thanks, Janet. I would love to be able to peek into history by touching anything that has been there! (I just don’t think of the hands! 🙂)
