On a Small Scale

I’ve recently started following an Internet Nobody. I have. I really have.

Each week, they supply a Cosmic Photo Challenge. This weekend, the theme was ‘On a Small Scale’. So I thought to myself Hmmm… what’s small? I knew I’d be using my mobilius phonius to take the photo, as I can get quite close to small things with it (like yesterday’s tortoise – that fits in the palm of one’s hand, wouldn’t you know?).

I thought of a postage stamp.

I reached for my stamp collection, and selected this one out of the five.

It was only as I was taking the photo that I realised the stamp was for the value of 1p. 1p! I’d misread it as ‘1st’ for some reason, an easy mistake I’m sure.

However a small value on a small postage stamp? Very small-scale in my book! The link above will allow you to see other small things (there are some creepy-crawlies though, so be warned!)

    Do the PO still produce 1p stamps? I imagine you’d need a lot to send a card these days. The Queen looks very young, so I guess this is an older specimen. (“mobilius phonius” 😀 )

      I’m quite surprised I have one in my possession, Chris. I didn’t know they existed. The ‘P’ gives a hint to their age, thereabouts, from the early seventies… although I’m getting a feeling this one may be more recent.
      And the mobilius phonius is a phrase I was introduced to years ago that just stuck. It’s Latin, I believe. Those ancients and their technologies, eh? 😊
