It was lovely while it lasted

The roads are getting busier again lately. And with it, the noise is building up once more. That, or people who are deciding to go out in their vehicles have decided to use their noisiest ones!

The past few weeks during this lockdown period have provided a natural silence outside, with the only sounds being the breeze and the birdsong. Such pleasant sounds after being locked away have been most welcome.

There’s now talk of relaxing the social distancing rules, even though the virus is still infecting thousands every day. I may be a little over-cautious, but whilst the virus is still around, today is no different to yesterday. But then, maybe me wanting to stay in and stay safe makes me a little selfish.

I have been enjoying the natural silence outside, so for now at least I’ll continue to do so, while it lasts.

For Six Word Saturday.

I’m with you, I cringe when I see another story about businesses reopening and life returning to normal while we’re on the upside of the curve. My husband had a kidney transplant 29 years ago, and dammit, I want to keep him alive. We have essentially quarantined ourselves since mid-March in an effort to do that (I’m very lucky to be a full time tele-commuter for my job). I know all of this is against our nature as we are social creatures, but we CAN manage. We just have to WANT to.

I can’t see it continuing for much longer, if we stick to the rules, Beth, but if we don’t we could end up back at square one. I don’t get how people can’t see that.
Keep yourselves well and safe. πŸ™‚

    Hi Tom! πŸ™‚ ❀

The scrambler bikes (illegal for road use) have been missing for weeks, roads have been quiet and the air fresh, but now people are starting to feel their oats!

I had the virus and a cold afterwards, but I’m mostly recovered with just an occasional cough bringing up mucus.

Soon we’ll be back to exhaust smelling air and dodging maniacs in cars!

People are still going to get sick and even die, but Business UK couldn’t stay closed forever.

At least my friend Peter and his wife (who I looked after from 3yo.) are both safe and recovering.

Both are nurses and they were two front-line heroes, Peter nearly paying with his life.

Let’s see medical staff get a decent pay raise, for Lord Knows they deserve it!!!

Blessed Be my friend!!! πŸ™‚ ❀

Pay rises may be a long way off for now, Prenin. But you never know… we must keep positive.

Same over here, noticeably noisier in the past couple of days, although there’s nowhere to go. I’ve just had a text from the government telling me so. I’d sooner listen to the birds anyway.

Living in the country like I do of course the quite of Nature is why I am here. but not sure how the city folk will manage in it for long. People going and coming is just a fact of life.

I like it, Beverly, but I like my own company. Some can’t seem to live with themselves!

I enjoy the silence too and I’ve noticed on the news some people are getting a little bit free with their movements. I sure Boris will reign it back in, he’s back to work next week.

Let’s hope so, Elaine. They are obviously far superior to health and safety it seems.

I’m not in a hurry to go out again, either – I’ve been enjoying our safe solitude. But it will be nice when things get back to “normal”-ish.

Normal when it’s safe to be normal, Diane… not ‘just because’! πŸ™‚
