Reflections and Shades

I’ve been around the Lake again this week, taking the odd photo or two. I was there last week, doing the same thing in sub-zero temperatures. The things I do for this blog!!!

As I said, it was c-h-i-l-l-y! The water was frozen solid at one end, although I wasn’t going to be the one to test how solid.

My friends the ducks weren’t particularly perturbed by the tiniest layer of snow that covered some parts.

Even through the bitterest of winds, the signs of Spring are beginning to appear.

The Coldest end of the Lake. Half-frozen, half not. If you look closer (centre top) you will see the sensible ducks paddling around in the unfrozen parts! The gulls too, for that matter, although they are at one o’clock!

And now, the gulls and ducks are together!

Brrrrr!

Yet a few days later, it is completely different again. Clear, free-flowing waters.

And finally, the picture with everything in it! Light and dark. Reflection and reality (what’s the opposite of a reflection called – the ‘real’ thing? I can’t think!). Clear blue skies and white fluffy clouds. Reds and greens. Shadow and light. Colours and greys. Land and water. And me and not me! That hulking shadow there is me, but it is only my shadow, so it isn’t me! We do like to ponder some odd things here Beyond the Sphere!

Brrr! This is why we wear down jackets. Ducks are just smart. Well…their creator is anyway.

My pleasure, VK! But no, Tufty’s absence was noticed once again. I think he’s moved to pastures (or lakes) new!

      We can that, Manuela!
I find being by the water, in any weather, most beautiful and calming.

That great lurking hulk is in the middle of the non-reflection. Nice pics.

Thanks, Raili. At least the great lurking hulk was semi-transparent – I’d have been very disappointed if it had been just a dark blob! 😀

Opposite of reflection … reality? Truth?

Great photos Tom. From your shadow I’d guess you’re nine feet tall and have huge muscles, showing you’re the Super Hero we all know you to be. ~ Cobs. 🙂

I am nine feet tall, Cobs – you’re an observant one, you! And yes, I do have muscles, although they are seemingly hidden at present… I must start using my smaller cape again.
Sorry about your brain cell, however – I’m doing that a lot to you lately, aren’t I?
