Into Winter

Backwards we fall in
With days short and nights longer
Winter’s scene is set

Chill welcomes the day
A sign we approach year’s end
With frozen dew drops

Rosy cheeks and things
Visible signs of breathing
And dash to get warm

Time waits for no-one
As another cycle ends
Spring is standing by

I sure hope Spring is standing by…I am not looking forward to winter. They(who ever they are)say it will be a cold one.

I don’t mind it being cold, Beverly, as long as it isn’t TOO cold. I prefer being cool than warm!

Ooh, frosty! Looks as though winter is closing in… but in just five more weeks the days start to get longer again! Surely spring is on its way…

Those are gorgeous photos, Tom. We’re just having a backwards step into winter weather from being in mid 30’s to under 20 last two days, and raining. It will be very hot soon enough.

A change is as good as a rest, Raili! And we certainly have a change with the weather, don’t we?

Winter hasn’t made its way to my area yet. We’re getting a few nippy days but nothing of any consequence. I enjoy winter as long as it is mild, which most winters are mild in my area. Nice piece, Tom.

      Thanks, Eugenia.
I like it cold, crisp and clear… or snowing. We have it more like the former and hardly the latter. I’m not too keen on the clear up after the snow!

I agree, fresh snow is beautiful but after a while it gets dirty and slushy. We live in an apartment so we don’t have to clear snow or rake leaves. 😉
