Time

It’s Debbie’s One Word Sunday once again, and this week the subject is Time. Something I find I run out of very easily, but today I found the time to trawl through all of my old photographs to find this animated photo I took of The Clock eons ago:

I then also found the time to modernise the image a little, and make it appear like an old faded photo (well, I think so anyway!) by adjusting the colours and light slightly. The editing took away the animation, but is a still photograph of a clock timeless?

Or does it contain all of the secrets of time trapped within that instant that has been captured?

Time has only stood still once.

And a stopped clock shows the correct time twice in a day!

As from tomorrow (21st August 2017) Big Ben will fall silent for for the longest time in its history, 157 years (almost as old as me!, – or rather, almost as old as the age I feel today) .

I’m hoping that when they halt the ‘bongs’ at noon tomorrow, that time will stand still and that some rather important things could be sorted out and put right in the world as it is today. However, I’m led to understand that it will only be the bongs which will stop, and not the clock itself.
Shame. I had all sorts of plans for when Time Stood Still!

You’re own Time Piece … or should I call it your Tom Piece, will no doubt continue with the job it’s dedicated itself to do. And beautifully so too.

Nice images Tom. Well done with your transformations.

      Thanks, Cobs.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I have a little niggling memory with a quiet voice telling me that Big Ben has been ‘silent’ before, and a recording was used instead. I may have made it up, or I may have mixed it up with something else, but I’m sure I’m sure. Well, as sure as I can be.

You’re right, Cobs! I never think of Google.
And, I found this, where Big Ben’s sister bells were replaced by a recording in Darlington (http://whatsondarlington.co.uk/residents-react-to-clock-tower-bells-being-replaced-by-recording/) although, I don’t think that was the story I heard…

    Timely Tom!
The animation made me feel time was escaping me, so I love your aged shot – you have definitely added a hint of vintage.
    Have a great week Tom

Thanks, Debbie. The animation jumps a little, which gives time just that little out of time edge! πŸ˜€
Hope you’ve had a good week so far!
