Emergence of Colour

You may remember a post back in April I published, ‘Success’, where I mentioned that I’d sowed a few seeds and planted a few bulbs, and all with me not being very green-fingered at all.

Well today, I’d like to post a little update. This is how those seedlings look now:

The above photos were all taken on 3rd June 2017, and some shoots are still coming through. I haven’t the foggiest what the plants are, although I seem to remember gladioli and sunflowers being amongst the mix. I think the tall leafy ones are gladioli, although that is what I think and I have been known to be wrong.

When I looked at them on 9th June 2017, I noticed some tiny petals had appeared on a few of the plants. Even with this clue I’ve no idea what they are, but I’m just pleased that something has actually grown for me! We had some strong winds this last week, and a few of the plants are a little worse for wear right now, but they’re still there. We may be seeing some more colour soon. For that, however, we shall have to wait and see.

Thank you for all your photos “full of green – full of life” and not at last for the beautiful, tender, yellow flower!

That flower was a surprise, Manuela, especially as there are still other seedlings growing.

If any of them ARE sunflowers you can expect them to be taller than you my friend!!!! 🙂

Looks like they are growing well though – just remember to water them at sunset on dry days! 🙂

    God Bless!

They are well watered, Prenin… by me and the rain! The winds didn’t help, but they’re still there!

Aw Way to Go, you clever chap!
Next time … get some of those plastic plant sticks and using a permanent ink pen, (or a CD marker pen), write on the plant sticks what it is that you’ve planted in that spot, so that when something rises from the earth, you’ll know exactly (pretty much) what it is!
(You can pick up plant sticks for around a pound – or less – at those pound shops).

    Looking great Tom.
I’m wishing some colour for your efforts, during the summer months.

Thanks, Cobs. Those sticks wouldn’t help, as the seeds and bulbs were all mixed. I should have kept the names, thinking about it, I’d still be none the wiser, but I’d be ale to at least hazard a guess when they bloomed. I may be OK with the sunflowers, I’m guessing!

OOoo yes! And don’t forget to collect some of the seeds when the flower dries out. (You have to watch the little birdies with those, they will snaffle them for supper! So make sure you get a small handful before they all go.) ~ C. x

Thanks, Shree. I haven’t the foggiest notion what those flowers are, but it’s a nice surprise to see them flowering. I’m waiting for the tall leafed ones to flower now…
