Why? You very well may ask.👢🍧

I commented recently on a post on The Cobweborium Emporium, and Cobs (webmistress herself!) was in awe of the fact that I knew the codes to all of the emojis. 🍳 Well, I had to confess and state that I was commenting via my mobile phone, and the emojis were in fact symbols on the keyboard. But then, 😇 I went and volunteered to find the codes for her.

😭I searched and searched and searched, and couldn’t find anything. I admitted defeat. But then, 👀 had one further look AND FOUND THE INFORMATION I WAS LOOKING FOR!!! 😎

In Windows 10, it’s easy, 🌝 for there’s a little keyboard symbol in the bottom right, near to the time just waiting to be clicked, and there’s a little smiley face symbol on this keyboard. Click that, and whole row of categories appears where the space bar used to be. Simply select a category and the emoji is inserted! 🔮 There are a couple of arrows down the left-hand column which enables you to view more emojis in each category. 💎🎲

Windows 8 also has the keyboard, the in-built one, but as I’ve never used Windows 8 I can’t confirm this, but apparently it works in a very similar way. And Windows 7? Well, that doesn’t have the keyboard, but there is a way to get emojis by installing the latest updates. I can’t confirm this either, as I also no longer use Windows 7. 💖😒

    Tom TOM TOM!!! Weeeeeeeeeeee. I’m squealing here and giggling out loud. Ohhh I love you oodles.       It’s just a different form of communication, BC, but I get that it doesn’t appeal to everyone. I like using the smileys in my comments and replies, but always try to remember who doesn’t like them, so I don’t use them then.

        Don’t mind a smiley face here and there,but only using them and not real words that would drive me crazy. ( not a long trip I might add)

          Aw Beverly … I don’t think any blogger will use a blog post to just ‘talk’ in emoticons (or emoji’s) … bloggers love to chat, talk, tap out what’s inside their heads, and they add the little smilies every now and again to kind of push home a feeling they’re feeling as they type …. I’ll try one here to see if I’ve got it right (Tom, forgive me if, after all your training, I bum out here) … 😳 Let’s see how that one works, eh? lol

          Beverly … you really don’t need to worry about bloggers making blog posts of emoticons and no words. It won’t happen. Ever. We bloggers like to chat, hence the reason we’re bloggers. (Although some chat less than I do, and some just post photographs with very little wordage, which I will freely admit that I avoid those posts as I’m unsure about what I’m supposed to say about the picture and even if the picture belongs to the blogger!, so I don’t comment.)

            Oh dear….I’m afraid I am one of those bloggers who doesn’t “talk ” much. Some time I do but this blasted pc just keeps eating my words. I think I’ve figured it out. I’m to short for the arrangement on my desk and my hand keeps hitting the wrong key. Must find a taller stool or take a bite of the mushroom that makes me taller.

              Sending squidges … and someone in a white coat to sort you out … and take that shroom away from you. I don’t think that’s the type which makes you taller. That’s a biscuit which does that. The ‘shrooms’ do something altogether most different I’m told. (and I believe them!). lol

    I’m impressed Tom! I use these little pics but often don’t quite know which one means what. I’m good with smiley faces though 🙂

      I’m with you there, Deb… I don’t know what all of them mean either, and there are some that I wouldn’t even dream of using in company. But yes, the smiley faces are faves on mine as well. And I know the code for some of them as well! 😀 (Although I tend to type that incorrectly!!! :/

        Yes, I did know it was there when I first explored W10, but thought it was for those with detachable keyboards.. for touch pads use.. So It got activated then deactivated LOL.. and never used again as I didnt even know it worked.. So just shows.. So thank you..

    I’ve often wondered what the keystroke shortcuts are for all those goodies, but I’ve never bothered to find out beyond the usual smilies and the heart. One of these days, in all my spare time… 😉
